INTRODUCING OUR DENTISTS

DR. NATHANIEL A. WONG, DMD.

A native of Edmonton, Dr. Wong studied at the University of Alberta during his undergraduate career before completing his dental degree at the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg. Dr. Wong has been working in the dental field for over 10 years.

He is a general practitioner with interests in guided surgical placement of dental implants and associated gum and bone tissue grafting. He also offers orthodontic straightening of teeth using clear Invisalign braces. He is dedicated to staying current with the newest advancements in cosmetic dentistry and related technologies. Not only does he take tremendous pride in his work but he is exceptionally sensitive to his patients needs. He develops a genuine rapport with his adult and child patients and enjoys the time he spends with them. For the many of us that are anxious in seeing the dentist, Dr. Wong also offers adult sedation dentistry.

Dr. Wong is a standing member of the Canadian Dental Association, Alberta Dental Association, and the Edmonton and District Dental Society.

When Dr. Wong is not practicing his passion of dentistry, he spends time with his lovely wife and their adorable dog. He enjoys playing league volleyball as well as coaching high school volleyball and is a hobbyist mechanic and auto enthusiast.

DR. MONICA NGUYEN, B. Sc., DMD.

Dr. Monica Nguyen graduated from the University of Manitoba with a Bachelor of Science (Honors), and a Doctorate of Dental Medicine in 2009. She is originally from Winnipeg, but has also lived in Calgary and Peace River before moving to Edmonton. Before becoming a partner at Affinity Dental Oliver Square, she had an amazing experience under the mentorship of Dr. Winston Wing and Dr. Nathaniel Wong . She has now been working in the dental field for over 10 years. She absolutely loves her profession, enjoys being with people and helping patients achieve their dental and overall health needs.

Dr. Monica is known for her easy going and gentle nature, and soft touch. She takes enormous pride in the work that she does and always ensures that her patients are comfortable during their treatments under her care. Dr. Monica is trained in, and enjoys all aspects of general dentistry, including cosmetic dentistry or “smile makeovers”, working with children, and anxious patients requiring a little more TLC. She is a true believer in lifelong learning and is passionate about attending Continuing Education courses. She has furthered her training with Adult and Pediatric Oral Conscious Sedation, Invisalign, Implant Dentistry, Venipuncture and Socket Preservation, Occlusion and Dental Orthotics, and Botox.

In her personal life, she enjoys being with her family, friends, and kitty named Bella. She is known for always having a smile on her face and positive outlook on life. She enjoys many different things: coffee and dinner with friends, movies, working out, camping and hiking, flying, dancing, and cooking. She is extremely grateful for the people she has met and the fantastic opportunities she has been given. She enjoys giving back to her community and has traveled abroad to Ecuador and Vietnam to participate in dental missions to serve children with little to no access to dental care. She also supports local charities such as Unicef, United Way, Canadian Cancer Society, Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation, Canadian Red Cross, among others.

DR. WINSTON WING, B. Sc., DDS.

Dr. Winston Wing is very thrilled to be part of the new dental team at Affinity Dental Oliver Square. Dr. Wing graduated from the University of Alberta in 1990 where he received both his Bachelor of Science Degree as well as his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. He is a current member of the Alberta Dental Association and the Canadian Dental Association.

Dr. Wing enjoys performing all disciplines of dentistry, from white fillings and extractions, to root canal treatments, dentures, dental implants, and cosmetic dentistry. Dr. Wing also performs relaxation oral sedation dentistry to help calm his anxious patients.

As a general practitioner, he also provides TMJ (jaw joint) and related headache therapy using neuromuscular dental techniques. Dr. Wing’s current passion in dentistry is performing full mouth reconstructions and full cosmetic procedures, that is “Extreme Makeover” style dentistry with “A New Smile - A New You” approach.

“I believe that a lot of TMJ problems, facial pain, and related headaches have a definite teeth and jaw component. There needs to be a balance of the head, jaw, teeth, neck, and body to allow the whole body to be centered, balanced, and thus feel good. For the dentistry to work, things must look great, fit great, and also feel great!”

His hobbies include all types of sports, working out, kettlebell training, martial arts, yoga and meditation. Other outdoor activities he enjoys is big game trophy hunting and guiding, downhill and backcountry skiing, and mountain and road biking. Dr. Wing is also a co-owner of a day spa named Zen Spa, with the love of his life Wendy.
